Finance Manager Job Description

Connected Lives (CL) is an early intervention charity (www.connectedlives.org.uk) offering help and support for families from an attachment perspective. Through our hubs we deliver groups, courses, and sessions to support partners and parents. All our programmes are evidence-based, and trauma informed. We are looking to recruit a Finance Manager to work three days a week to support our charity with the general office administration, be in charge of Budgeting, cash flow management and production of accurate, timely financial reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Bookkeeping using the Xero accounting system to produce regular reports for the Trustees, the Director and the Connected Lives Hub leaders.

  • Monitoring the use of Restricted and designated funding.

  • Understanding and adhering to the rules, policies and procedures governing the use of

    grants, donations, Reserves, and other charitable funds.

  • Budget preparation, financial reporting and producing timely cashflow reports for

    Trustees, key staff, and external bodies.

  • Preparing end of year reports for external examiners and grant applications.

  • Managing monthly payroll, salary payments, accounts receivable and payables.

  • Maintaining accurate bank account reconciliation for the charity bank accounts,

  • Processing online payments, checking employee expenses claims and posting them to

    xero for payment.

  • Running and reporting annual gift aid claims to HMRC.

  • Be involved in the charity’s fundraising activities and support processes that will

    enhance the growth of the charity.

  • Be involved in the ad hoc projects and reports of the charity.

Personal specification and Experience

  • Educated to Degree Level

  • Possession of a professional qualification such as AAT, ACCA or CIMA [desirable]

  • Proven experience as Finance Manager [Essential]

  • A team player, self-motivated and ability to adapt to changes in workload and priorities

    to meet deadlines [Essential]

  • Experience of working with confidential and sensitive material in a professional manner

  • Strong attention to detail, great organisational skills, and ability to work accurately,

    calmly, and effectively.

Benefits

  • Salary: You will work 3 days per week. Salary range £28,000-34,000 pa (pro rata for the days worked).

  • 28 days annual holiday, prorated for the days worked. 3 days to be taken week after Christmas) including bank holidays.
