Connected Lives Safeguarding Policy

In our day to day work, Connected Lives provides support to vulnerable people, many of whom will have regular contact with our staff, facilitators and volunteers and who may have already experienced some form of harm. Connected Lives recognises that the protection of people, be they adults or children in our care is a corporate responsibility and that all who are in our services should be protected from further harm and treated with respect.

We commit ourselves to nurture, protect and safeguard all those we work with, particularly our children and young people. Connected Lives undertake to exercise proper care in the recruitment, selection processes, training, work practices and procedures. Where appropriate we will make sure that contractors or other organisations work to these same principles. At the same time we will work to ensure that our employees are protected from the risk of malicious or unfounded allegations.

We wish to support parents and carers who have responsibility for bringing up children. We accept the principles of the Children Act 1989 and the 2010 Equalities Act.

This policy (and accompanying Practice Guidance) applies to all employees, volunteers, internships, placements, contractors and the Trustees of Connected Lives. This policy will be reviewed at least every year and inspected when appropriate to ensure that it fits with current general legislation.

The Trustees agreed the above policy on safeguarding at its meeting held on 24/03/21.

The Trustees reviews this policy annually.
